Survival for Fiction Writers

My first experiment in serial blogging is going so well that I've decided to start another series as well. This one will be about unconventional or 'forgotten' ways of living, and I hope it will be helpful for writers of post-apocalyptic, historical or fantasy fiction, or anyone whose characters are in the wilderness or very poor.

Some of the posts will cover very modern topics and probably not be of interest to historical fiction writers. Some will cover very old topics and may be of interest to nobody but historical fiction writers. Most will be somewhere in between.

Even if you don't write, you may enjoy this series because this topic is really about how to live a much more frugal and Earth-friendly lifestyle.

Here are some of the things I hope to talk about:

  • How to get along without electricity
  • How to cook and bake on a wood stove
  • Edible wild herbs
  • How to live without money
  • Pest control without harmful chemicals
  • How to get the most out of your food budget
